Teaming up with Kathy Ruddick, one of British Columbia’s respected fly fishing instructors, Echo Valley's Fly Fishing packages provide the novice with an extraordinary introduction to the art of fly fishing. Even more experienced anglers are bound to enjoy the feel of landing a Rainbow trout weighing over ten pounds!

The EVR three and four-night Fly Fishing courses comprise of:
- How to get started
- Essential equipment
- How to select tackle, assemble a rod, and construct a leader
- Casting techniques; beginner to advanced
- Roll Casts, mending, improving your cast
- Lines, knots and tippets
- Trout food and entomology, the life cycle of insects
- Flies: what to use, when and how
- Understanding lakes, streams and where fish hold
- Dry fly and west fly techniques
- Catch & release
Note: These three and four night programs are offered for groups of ten participants per course. Student rod, reel and practice flies are provided. All fly fishing classes take place at Echo Valley. Longer programs are available by special request (please see our “Experience Fishing” brochure for an example itinerary).
Also included:
- Accommodation in Dove Lodge or Lookout Lodge. Cabins are available at a small additional charge. All accommodations are rated 4.5-stars by Canada Select Properties
- All meals prepared by our Master Chef in an open kitchen, with a gourmet focus on good nutrition and tasty, healthy food. Special diets are accommodated. The ranch is licensed to serve a variety of local and imported beers and wine
- Use of ranch facilities: large outdoor hot tub, sauna, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, large games room with pool table, shuffleboard, darts and board games, Karaoke and large screen (62 inch) video/satellite TV
- Fishing excursions to nearby lakes
- Ruesri dat ton lessons: an easy-to-learn, gentle Thai stretching class, based on ancient Thai practices and new in North America
- Cooking and nutrition tips: Master Chef Kim Madsen is available throughout the day with useful advice concerning cooking, special diets and nutrition
- Ranching around: Help with the ranch animals (collect eggs, feed the horses); enjoy roping and horse training demonstrations; practice ‘horse shoes’ and challenge the champs
- Wireless Internet access
- Unguided walks/hikes are numerous and range from easy nature trails to difficult walks as well as three-hour mapped hikes
- Planned evening entertainment includes Native Drumming (Tuesday), a Cowboy Cookout (Friday), and Thai Night (Thursday)

- Falcons in flight: Watch our falcons being trained daily.

To guarantee optional activities, we recommend bookings be made at the time of your initial reservation. Please discuss
your preferences with our program coordinator so that these activities will not conflict with program scheduling.

- Connections options from Vancouver to Echo Valley Ranch include charter flights direct to the ranch;
scheduled connector flights to Kamloops with transfers from Kamloops to the ranch; chauffeur driven
limousine from Vancouver; and self drive. Please ask reservations for details
- Arrival times at the ranch: 2:30 PM. Check out time 11:00 AM. Flight departure times from Vancouver
1:30 PM, from the ranch 2:45 PM (arrive Vancouver 4:00PM)
- To guarantee optional activities, especially spa treatments, it is recommended that you book in

- Some outdoor activities are subject to weather
- The 10% service charge is paid as a gratuity to our staff. It is intentionally less than would be charged
by other facilities so that you may have the option to pay more if you consider the service you received
during your stay with us to be outstanding.
